As I opened my SF Chronicle subscription renewal this morning, my jaw hit the floor.
Subscription price for 8 weeks Jan - Feb 2009 - $46
Subscription price for 8 weeks Mar - Apr 2009 - $62
That would be a 35% increase, raising the annual subscription price for daily and Sunday delivery to roughly $400.
The death of print journalism feels self-inflicted to me. $400 for a poorly written, editorially weak daily?
This has zero.. ZERO to do with online news.
I thought the return of the green "Sporting Green" was going to lock me in.
Adios, SF Chronicle. It's been nice knowing you for the past 30 years.

A 35% increase? Check out what happened to me. I canceled my subscription, too.
Yeah - you know I forgot to mention that some time mid year 2008 the subscription price went from $31.80 to $46. So within a year they doubled the price.
